APC Will Welcome Kwankwaso If He Joins Us – Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has said the party will not turn away former Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, if he chooses to join its ranks.

Ganduje made the statement on Sunday while speaking with journalists after receiving the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Yusuf Garo Ata, at his residence in Abuja.

“Kwankwaso is like a fish out of water, and it’s only natural for such a fish to seek its way back into the water,” Ganduje said. “We cannot say we won’t accommodate him. A friend in need is a friend indeed. If he wants to return, we will welcome him.”

He added that as a political elder in Kano, it would be morally right to shelter someone like Kwankwaso.

“When you see your son running toward a place where he can find shelter, and you have a big house, the right thing is to receive him. We won’t abandon him,” Ganduje stressed.

Earlier, the minister, Alhaji Yusuf Ata—who is also a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly—said he visited Ganduje to show respect and reaffirm his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly its efforts in Kano State.

“We are fully behind President Tinubu and are working day and night to ensure APC retains Kano State in 2027,” Ata said.

Commenting on the influence of the Kwankwasiyya political movement, Ata said the red cap era in Kano was fading.

“Personally, I do not support welcoming the former governor into the APC. But I have no choice if the National Chairman decides otherwise,” he concluded.
